Weekly Sports Update

The physical education program consists of physical conditioning and developing motor and coordination abilities.  The program is divided into two levels of instruction: K-3 and 4-8.  Stretching and group exercises are learned and performed by all grade levels before beginning any activity.  K-3 works on mastering locomotive skills, various fundamental sport skills, and movement education.  Concentration is focused on the expression of imagination and creativity through each student's individual talents.  K-3 has two, 30-minute physical education classes each week.  Once locomotor skills have been mastered, students will be taught basic team sport skills in grades 4-8.  Both written and skills tests are given quarterly to assess the student's knowledge of the sport being taught.  Each student is graded on ability, skills, attitude, participation, and improvement made both physically and mentally.  Grades 4-8 have two physical education classes each week, with an average of 80 minutes in each grade level.

The students in grades 5 to 8 at Saint Anastasia have the opportunity to participate on the following after school sport teams:

Volleyball - Girls - Varsity (Grades 7 and 8) and Junior Varsity (Grades 5 and 6)
