MISSION AND BELIEFS
Description of the Process:
In October 2005, after an orientation and overview of the SIP process, the St. Anastasia School Mission and Beliefs Committee met to outline a plan to formulate our Mission statement. Research was done by each committee member and relevant information was shared and discussed. Inclusion of all stakeholders was provided via the NSSE surveys. The stakeholders included students, parents, teachers, and parish community members. Results of the belief statements were noted and the twenty-five statements recorded. The data was analyzed and put in priority order from highest to lowest average. On a scale from 1 to 5, #1 was 4.90 and #25 was 4.17. Overall, the ratings indicate a high approval level and no single area appears to have a significant concern.
From the surveys, research, and discussions, a mission statement was then developed. The statement, along with survey results, were presented to the faculty, administration, and pastor for further revision. Also, parents, via the newletter and web site link, were given an opportunity to respond for further revision or comments. The feedback was positive with minor suggestions.
The Mission and Belief statements were presented for final approval to all stakeholders and copies were distributed throughout the campus. Teachers, students, staff and parents were encouraged to reflect and incorporate the elements of the Mission Statement into their daily routines. The eighth grade class utilized the Mission Statement as the basis for their

We believe...
-that each student is valued as a unique child of God called to integrate his/her Catholic faith with learning and life.
-that opportunities for successful learning in varied mediums, require mutual respect between and among students and staff and a safe, well-equipped and comfortable learning environment.
-that implementation of the mission of the school is the shared responsibility of parents, clergy, administration, teachers, advisory organizations and parishioners.
-that students, staff, and stakeholders at St. Anastasia School strive to embody the Gospel message of Jesus, to build a faith community, to celebrate through prayer and worship, and to promote service to others.
-that ongoing evaluation of the curriculum will provide a supportive and challenging environment for a student's potential for responsible decision making.
