Fifth Grade Band 

       

All fifth grade students have an opportunity at the beginning of the year to join band. The band program offers its members a wide variety of musical activities intended to cultivate and enhance musicianship and enjoyment.  It has been proven that playing an instrument not only improves musical appreciation and enjoyment, but also improves thinking skills in all other subjects, especially math.

With the directors help and approval, students may choose form the following instruments:

Sixth Grade Advanced Concert Band      
The Sixth Grade Advanced Concert Band is made up of all 6th grade students as approved by the band director.  The Sixth Grade Band is a performing organization.  These students are eligible to perform at Solo and Ensemble and Concert Festivals, with the director's approval.
           

Symphonic Band (Royal Ram Symphonic Band)

   
The Symphonic Band is made up of advanced 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students as approved by the band director.  The Symphonic Band is the primary performing organization at St. Anastasia Catholic School.  As the primary performing organization, it is commissioned and charged by the principal, and directed by the band director, to enhance and promote the quality of educational activities at St. Anastasia Catholic School for the students, parents, and the Diocese.  These students are eligible to perform at Solo and Ensemble and Concert Festivals, with the director's approval.
           

Percussions

         
Percussion students generally come fro the 6th grade band after the students have played at least a year on an instrument.  Percussion students are chosen from successful band students who have very good behavior.  The Band Director chooses the percussion players.
           

Jazz Band

         
Volunteer Band open to band students in grades 6-8.

This performing ensemble is offered in an effort to propagate jazz.  Students not only learn and perform various jazz styles (swing, ballads, Latin, and rock), but also investigate the cultural and historical heritage of jazz.  The normal instrumentation of a jazz band includes: trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piano, guitar and bass.  Participants must maintain a minimum band grade of 2.0.  Members are also selected by the Director.

           

Solo and Ensemble

       
Elective activity open to band students in grades 6-8

Students in grade 6 through 8 are encouraged to participate in the Florida Bandmaster's Association Solo and Ensemble Festival held in February each year.
