The St. Anastasia School and Church Community believe each student is a unique child of God, called to achieve excellence by nurturing the mind, body, and spirit in the image and likeness of God.                   -Mission Statement

St. Anastasia is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference.  This agency is recognized by the State of Florida to accredit Catholic Schools.  We also hold membership in the National Catholic Educational Association.

St. Anastasia is part of the diocesan educational system and is subject to and bound by the general policies of the Diocese.

Goals for 2008-2009

1. Catholic Identity

Continue to strengthen the spiritual relationship with our regional Catholic Churches through increased communication.

Form a new, liturgy planning committee to foster organized communication and collaboration between the school’s pastor, administration, music director, and director of catechesis.

2. Curriculum

Commit a portion of the school improvement plan (SIP) leadership team agenda to addressing the application requirements for the National Blue Ribbon Education Award. This application process will provide the school with an academic benchmark for excellence.

Form a small committee of teachers and parents lead by the Enrichment Teacher to conduct a research-based evaluation of the methods used to improve differentiated instruction and our enrichment program.

Evaluate the learning objectives and use of the computer and library programs in order to fully utilize the resources in our new Media Center.

Provide teacher in-services on the practical and planned use of technology tools in order to improve student learning.

To effectively use the Write Traits trainings and resources provided with our new Language Arts/Reading series to improve the students’ reading and writing skills.

Continue the improvement of our students’ basic mathematic computation skills.

Support the continued development of a growing fine arts program with well-defined curriculum, administrative assistance, and parent involvement.

Begin the effective use of the newly-developed thinking and reasoning rubrics and begin recording base-line data on our success with improving the general thinking and reasoning skills of our students.

Evaluate the learning objectives to be achieved in our Spanish program that conform to the Blue Ribbon requirements.

Begin the evaluation of our science curriculum in preparation for a new science book series.

3. Christ-Centered Community Building

Communicate and adopt the new changes to the student handbook to clarify behavioral expectations, procedural consistency, attendance, punctuality, and respectful appearance.

Improve the use of email, school master, the newsletter, and our website to increase the quantity and quality of communication between the school and its families.

Work closely with the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) to promote parent involvement and the strengthening of our Christian community.

Develop a few more family activities in the 3:30pm-5:30pm time period that families can participate in.

Improve the marketing of Catholic Schools Week.

Provide active administrative and teacher support for the Catholic Scouting Program at the school.

Organize and improve upon the 6th grade Christian Leadership Retreat, the 7th grade Community Building Retreat, and the 8th grade retreat and service day that will be led by the school’s guidance counselor and director of catechesis.
