Music Teacher: Mrs. Jane Lawson
The Music room is a busy place. Students from Kindergarten up to grade eight attend music class. Music theory, rhythm, and self-expression is taught at all grade levels. Students learn to play different instruments and appreciate different styles of music. Seasonal as well as liturgical music to incorporated into the lessons.
St. Anastasia School is blessed with many students who volunteer to sing in the school's Junior Choir for grades 2 through 5 and the Senior Choir for grades 6 through 8. The students contribute to the school's spiritual community by singing at the All School Masses and at special functions throughout the year.
This year the choir is expanding to accommodate students who are also in Symphonic Band.
Mrs. Lawson will provide a well-rounded education in Liturgical music to members of both choirs as well as to the student body. The school has selected Spirit and Song, a publication of OCP, as our choir songbook. It is a highly praised resource, recommend for use in youth ministries, catholic schools and college campuses.
As with all elective programs at St. Anastasia, choir membership requires a student and parent commitment.
